Post #1: Series finale for The Mentalist/Castle and "What's been renewed?"
First of all: BEST SEASON FINALE EVER (with Castle coming in a close 2nd).

I'm not worried what will happen in the season opener in the Fall. Between the gun, the phone, etc., there will be enough to convince folks that it was self-defense. But I suspect Lisbon will know the truth and that will cause some friction for awhile. Also, we're still left with a few threads (like the icky new boss and his secret - and please, can we have Hightower back now?). I suspect that if I were Bruno Heller, I'd also have one of Red John's minions (I think there's still one inside the CBI since VanPelt's boyfriend wasn't with the CBI) decide to take revenge on Jane, which could translate into trying to throw some doubt on whether Bradly Whitford was the real Red John (we know he was, but it would be a great way to get back at Jane). Anyway, it was awesome and I can't wait until next season!

As for Castle, I take back what I said in an earlier post - about her setting it up based on the envelope her boss left her - I think now Beckett really was shot because that way she can 'forget' that Castle told her he loved her and we can start the whole ust back up again *gag me now*. I would prefer this not be the case, but alas....

OTOH: It could still be as I originally posited and what gets in the way of their relationship progressing is the NEW boss, who won't be as 'understanding' as Captain Montgomery was....

No matter what, though, both shows illustrated how to do one hell of a great finale.

Okay, now for the shows that have been renewed by their respective stations as of May 18th (and some canceled shows that upset me *pouts*):

Just added to the list of renewed shows:
Fairly Legal
Blue Mountain State
Game of Thrones
Justified

NBC
Community
30 Rock
Parks & Recreation
Harry’s Law (HUGE WONDERFUL SURPRISE, but how in the HELL did THREE GREAT shows opposite each other - all survive? Harry's Law (nbc), Castle (abc) and H50 (cbs) - was it because they were all shuffled so much they never actually ran new episodes opposite each other?)
The Office
Parenthood
Chuck

Fox
American Dad
Bob’s Burgers
Fringe (THANK YOU GOD)
The Cleveland Show
Raising Hope
The Simpsons
Family Guy
Glee
House
Bones

CBS
Hawaii 5-0
How I Met Your Mother
Big Bang Theory
Mike & Molly
NCIS
NCIS LA
CSI
CSI Miami
CSI New York
The Good Wife (Yipppeeee!)
Blue Bloods (YAHOO!)
Criminal Minds (YAY! And with maybe AJ back, thanks to CM:Suspect Behavior being canceled!)
The Mentalist
Two And A Half Men (Yep, with supposedly Ashton Kutcher replacing Charlie - and you know, they look remarkably alike)
Rules of Engagement

ABC
Happy Endings
Body of Proof (YIPPPEEEEE)
Desperate Housewives
Private Practice
Castle
Cougar Town (by the skin of....)
The Middle
Grey’s Anatomy
Modern Family

The CW
Vampire Diaries
Supernatural
One Tree Hill
Nikita
Gossip Girl
90210

Unfortunately, Brothers & Sisters was canceled (God, I'll miss that show, but seriously, what more could they possibly do?) as was Mr. Sunshine (Matthew Perry's show, which I thought was awesomely funny). I'm also very sad that Fox canceled "Lie to Me" but not surprised that Human Target got dumped - they changed it too drastically from season one and doomed it. I'm also surprised that Law & Order: LA didn't get renewed once they changed the format - but I suspect it was too late to save it. :(

I'm a haphazard 'mentalist' viewer, but that season finale blew me away. Really good pacing that got me through having to watch commercials since the dvr was otherwise occupied. great, even if I missed what happened out in the country because my cable blipped out right after the fbi fiancee shot the cops & came back so i could see the sit down with Josh, I mean Red John. I think you're right about Lisbon. How do we *know* that was Red John, from what he said about Jane's family? And i to wondered, the fiancee was FBI so what about the CBI mole?

Haven't watched Castle yet, but have heard great things.

I don't watch Fringe, hoping i have time to catch up this summer, but i'm really glad it was renewed for the fans on my flist. I kind of wish they had renewed 'V' for a 13 or something episode wrap-up because I was kind of into it & it was a cliffhanger. I figured it was doomed despite the wish.

And AJ Cook is returning to Criminal Minds, that has been confirmed. I so totally guessed the twist in the finale, I felt like they really gave it away.

I liked L&O:LA before they tinkered with everything & the kitchen sink, so I didn't have much interest when it returned.

Yeah, the pacing really was well

done. And now I wish we'd seen RJ all along so we could have seen Josh Bradley more. What a waste of an incredible talent (like "Good Guys", which was also a waste of his talent). Maybe RJ is wearing a vest with squibs? We can hope. :)

I really hoped Lie To Me could make it one more year, they brought it back at the wrong time -- after cancelling whatever was in that timeslot after 2 eps. They never really gave it press or a chance. I liked it because it was smart and I adored Cal. But I can't say I'm surprised.

H50's finale was so screwed up, I haven't decided if I'm glad it was renewed or not.

I hear great things about Justified, which I'm going to catch up with over the summer, so we'll see!

I'm half way glad they didn't cancel Two and Half Men. Not that I am a fan of the show. I just want Martin Sheen to realize that he is not God's gift to comedy!

I'm happy that Hawaii Five-O, CSI and Criminal Minds. Only shows I make sure I don't miss.

Yeah and I think

Ashton will actually be good in it. :)
