Another new Blog post announcement: Now I'm really scared
I just read this article from the National Journal (yes, it used to be a 'dreaded' left leaning paper, but now basically covers Washington with a jaundiced and mostly non-partisan eye - as you'll note when you go to their site) which simply states the obvious truth: Neither side can budge in any direction that will truly help the middle class. You can read more about this over at my blog.

By the way, have you called your representative yet? The President? Waived your right to vote under their noses? We do have the power and they often forget it (even though several states are now making it more difficult for the elderly, the minorities, the disabled and students to vote).

I had an epiphany.

I think they are just doing this on purpose. 1. in order to force the president into signing what they want (what I call hard manipulation) by waiting to the last minute so SOMETHING has to be signed and 2. they will not allow the default to happen. There are many countries who are watching this and getting frightened by what can happen if they are so f#*king stupid. They wouldn't dare. They would go down in infamy as being the ones responsible for a catastrophe. A world catastrophe.

This is all manipulation bullshit and posturing. I don't believe they would dare.

You're right

and it worked. Everything Obama promised would never be touched - is now gone. We were sold down the river because he didn't have the guts to face them down.

Re: You're right

Just so already rich people could have even more money. He was also afraid of becoming the President of that infamy. Biggest game of chicken ever played.

They have all forgotten that if you squeeze the middle class out and put the poor under horrendous pressure, revolutions erupt. It will happen. Not on the scale of our revolution or the French revolution. But, it will happen. They are using the military for their ends and also the justice system.

It will happen.

I have a suspicion that governments would be happier if the middle class was to disappear, and they were left with the rich and the poor, people with few rights made to work for peanuts so that the rich could get richer.

Yes, I'm cynical.

I'm right there with you

and just as cynical. :(

>>Yes, I'm cynical.

No, you're not. History showed that again and again.

It also showed that it doesn't work in the long run and rebellion and revolution will happen.

Sadly, that doesn't help those people who live during the rich/poor-period before it happens.

What scares me the most is that they're actually touching the right to vote and chip away on it.

:-(

Good article with sensible options for compromise given that nothing is ideal.

I'm not so sure that the Republican/Tea Party crowd wouldn't be willing to take the government, the economy and, possibly, the world down; in their lexicon of values, it would be the BLACK president's fault and would be seen as such by the people and by history -- they are too blinded by their own righteousness to even begin to consider that they might be the ones who are wrong.

Figures that the strongest, richest nation on earth could only be broken from the inside, by its own people. Tragic -- and terrifying for the rest of us who have no power to influence any of it and are all along for the economic ride.
