MOONRIDGE POLL! SPREAD THE WORD!
My apologies for posting the promised poll one day late but I was unable to do so yesterday. As a result, the poll will remain up until Midnight, your time, AMENDMENT: Saturday, February 4th, SUNDAY, FEBRUARY, 5TH, 2012.

Before answering the poll, please refresh your memory with what each type of auction actually means and feel free to leave questions in the comment section or email me directly at alysideburns at gmail dot com:

Definitions:

If you choose the "FULL AUCTION", that would mean we'd have all three types of auctions and the Moonridge Animal Adoption.
Descriptions:
#1. The 'Bidding Auction' - This is held at TheFreeAuction.com site and in this type of auction, fans donate items (like stories, jewelry, crafted goods, artwork, fandom memorabilia, etc) so that other fans can bid against each other in order to win. Highest bid for each item when auction ends receives the item.
#2: The 'Special Auction' - this one allows fans to offer items (like stories, jewelry, crafted goods, artwork, fandom memorabilia, etc.) in limited quantities and/or at set prices, thus NO bidding required.
Example #1 of a Special Auction: "Jane Doe is offering a 20 page Hawaii 5-0 slash, h/c story featuring Steve/Danno to everyone who donates $25 to Moonridge. The story is completed."
Example #2 of a Special Auction: "Jane Doe is offering a copy of her watercolor on canvas art piece from Supernatural featuring Sam, Dean and Castiel (sample to right) to the first 25 who donate $15 to Moonridge. (See sample of artwork on the right)"
#3: The "Claim Auction" - In this type of auction, fans who want specific items (like stories or art work, icons, banners, etc.) will offer to donate a specific dollar amount if their request is claimed.
Example #1: "Jane Doe will donate $25 to Moonridge for up to 3 authors willing to write a White Collar slash (Peter/Neal) story of at least 5 pages in length. Maximum donation: $75"
Example #2: "Jane Doe will donate $35 to Moonridge for up to 5 artists will to do at least 5 icons each based on episodes chosen by Jane. Maximum Donation: $175."
#4: The Animal Adoption - This has been done every year no matter what else occurs. Moonridge provides us with a list of animals and their photos, which we put up at our official website. Each animal can be adopted by as many fans willing to donate the adoption fee of $25. For their donation, they'll receive a photo of the animal and an official Moonridge Adoption Certificate. The money they donate will go toward feeding and caring for the adopted animal/s.

If you choose the Special/Claim/Animal Adoption Auction, then we'd do only #2, 3 and 4 above.
If you choose the Special Auction/Animal Adoption only, then you'd be choosing #2 & 4 above.
If you choose the Claim Auction/Animal Adoption only, then you'd be choosing #3 & 4 above.
If you choose the Animal Adoption Only, then you'd be choosing #4 above.

Reminder: in 2011, we did the Animal Adoption only as the economy was in such poor condition and many authors were still working on stories from past auctions. Things are somewhat better this year, but there's no denying that our economy is still in flux and Moonridge still hasn't broken ground on the new zoo and, since I'm well aware of how fans are saving for when the new zoo becomes a reality (for both the trip to the zoo's opening and for the major and FINAL auction scheduled for just prior to the Grand Opening), well, that's why the decision for this year's auction is in your hands. :) Whatever you decide will make no difference to me, work-wise, I'm home all day anyway. :)
So - it's now time to take the poll.
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND GET AS MANY FANS (FROM MANY FANDOMS) TO VOTE AS YOU CAN. THANK YOU!

PS: LJ IS BEING SNARKY AND ALLOWING SOME WHO AREN'T LJ MEMBERS TO VOTE WHILE STOPPING OTHERS. IF THAT HAPPENS TO YOU, JUST CLICK ON "LEAVE A COMMENT"  AND LEAVE YOUR VOTE THERE. IF YOU'RE NOT A MEMBER, IT WILL REGISTER YOU AS 'ANONYMOUS' - WHICH MEANS YOU CAN IDENTIFY YOURSELF OR NOT WHEN YOU LEAVE YOUR ANSWER. THANK YOU!

Full Auction

Hi Christine from Manchester here. I would like the full auction version if possible, but understand the money and time constraints on everyone. last couple of years have been unable to bid but do intend to do so this year. Also hoping to visit Moonridge again ideally 2013 if not sometime in the future.

I think the Sentinel fans are a great bunch

Ack, I am voting before midnight California time even though I'm in the East. Hope that's okay. One question, why wasn't there a choice to have the bidding auction and animal adoption? You have that in the "full auction" but not in any of the other combinations. Or perhaps I'm just confused.

Because we haven't had just a bidding

auction (with the animal adoption) for several years, the reason being that when we added the Special/Claim part of the auction, we made more money than "Bidding" only. We can thank LilyK for this, she started it, like in our second or third online auction and by offering all her stories to everyone who donated a set amount, she made more for the auction than any item that had been bid on. *G* And you know, some items (stories from certain authors, justmej quilts, etc) really reached high final bid $.

What I discovered was, the special/claim took a lot of pressure off the authors/artists and brought in tons of $, so going back to Bidding only (with animal adoption) simply isn't a viable option any longer. Hope that helps?

Re: Because we haven't had just a bidding

Sure, that makes perfect sense.

I really hope I can participate this year. I haven't been able to for a few years and I miss being able to do my part.

Moonridge Auction

I think I would go for the full auction too as it gives more opportunities to raise funds.
