FINALLY
I know the two most important things to know about how The Closer ends....

From Kyra herself:

TVLINE | Jon Tenney is going to be guest-starring on the Major Crimes spin-off. That has fans anxious, how Fritz can remain in that world but without Brenda. What can you say to assuage any fears?
I can just say that Brenda doesn’t die. And they don’t split up, I can say that too. But I’m not sure how they’re handling [Brenda's absence within Major Crimes], honestly.

THANK GOD. Okay, I can watch it now. :)

I've been wondering about this since I saw Tenney in some of the promo pics.

I'm not sure what Brenda's future will be, but I'm assuming Fritz will continue as the FBI liaison to the LAPD. Maybe he'll mention Brenda now and again, but I doubt it will be in any great detail or very often.

Someone told me that

Kyra had reported that she was "open" to special appearances in Major Crimes - so I'm thinking she's taking care of dad. I just hope in trying to make a success out of Major Crimes, they don't malign Brenda's character - or the way she commanded the team - just to further Raydor's and what will obviously need to be different methods of achieving police goals. :(

Re: Someone told me that

I've been thinking they'll do some major event that's the "last straw" for Brenda, so she decides to leave to take care of her father.

I'm also hoping they don't malign Brenda on her way out the door or as Raydor comes in. They did do a major thing by having Brenda say out loud that she was ultimately responsible for the murder that led to the lawsuit. She was fighting that a long time and it annoyed me that it was so obvious, yet she couldn't admit it, even to herself. Now that she has, that may be another reason that pushes her towards leaving.

It looks like they're going to change the focus of Major Crimes, but I'm not exactly sure what that means. The promos seem to indicate maybe they're going to take on crimes that aren't getting solved fast enough or something along those lines. There's a line Raydor says about not wanting to just arrest them, but walk them to their cell.

Re: Someone told me that

Yeah, that's what disturbs me too. How else can they change a law enforcement department? Is she suddenly going to disclose that she's also a LAWYER???? *rolls eyes* Or is this going to become a weirded out version of Law & Order? Or is it just a stupid ad campaign?

Oh THANK YOU! Whew! I have been worried! That will make next week at least a little less sad. Although at times I have wanted to strangle Brenda Leigh, I have never missed an episode and I love her and I'm going to miss her and the show so darn much.

Same here

I'd been hoping for ages that a major network would have picked it up - it was just so damn good! I'll miss it and I'll miss Brenda Leigh. :(
