on the 21st and based on my keen observational skills: We're still here.

Of course, the day isn't over, but still....

Mmm, I wonder if the Maya predictor was dyslexic? Maybe he meant 12-21-21?

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming - which includes a HUGE:

Aren't you glad the world didn't end?

PS: Not liking the new LJ set-up - what a surprise - not....

Who knows? Maybe the Mayans had teeny short little months -- it could happen, if full moon to new moon (none visible) was one month, and new moon to full moon was another month -- and the world was going to end 21-21-21.

Since we don't have 21 months, we're good for another few millennia!

(PS - did you get the story I emailed to you?)

I'm hanging on to the old layout as long as I can...

As for 'the end of the world' - it's like the doonsday preppers, buying bombproof shelters and stocking vast amounts of food, etc - if doomsday actually *comes* and the world ends, where are they going to survive? And in the event of another Chicholub (sp?) asteroid the ones who die right away will probably be the lucky ones.

Though I am glad I'll be dead before the West becomes the third world, churning out cheap exports for China and India, which is the only end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it future that I can realistically see.

This makes the (approximately) 27th Non-End of the World in my lifetime...

Yep, no end-of-the-world, it didn't even interrupt the Christmas programmes on tv.

Happy Birthday to all who are having them over the festive season.

Seasons greetings and very best wishes for the new year to everyone as well.
