If you're currently a member of the Yahoo group, alyjudescellar, there's a poll that just started there as well, and is more detailed. It too will run for two weeks.
To remind folks - I have a writer's group formed back in '02 for my fiction - where I'd post stories for ideas, suggestions on improvements, and finally, betaing. People could join to help the process and/or watch the process of a story from start to finish. Since I've hit my own writers block (for like, YEARS), I'd decided to close the group until some folks suggested making it a real "support group" for writers who get stuck, hit the wall, or suffer, however briefly, from writers block. I thought it a good idea and worth a try if I could get enough authors willing to try with me.
The group would be, as it is now, completely private, by invite only. In the group, an author could rant, discuss, talk about anything that they think might be stalling them. They'd have sympathetic listeners (many who'd been through similar issues), and perhaps help. I'd also like to see artists join as they can stall too, but can also provide inspiration for us. And readers, well, readers are our bread and butter (after all, I'm still a huge reader even if I'm blocked from writing) and can see things we as authors can miss. Readers would be invaluable for both ideas, support and cheer leading. Betas, or people interested in betaing are also important to such a group for obvious reasons. Combined, I think it could be a place of peace and quiet, great support and understanding, and like minds who can possibly offer up a link in a chain that could break a block, or kick-start a stalled story, or even find an answer to getting out of a corner we're often famous for writing ourselves into! :)
Right now, the idea is that The Sentinel and Stargate SG1 and SGA would be our fandom focus, but this could change, depending on how far this idea goes.
So again, please, if you're an author, take the poll or leave a comment - and if you like the idea of being a method of support, again, take the poll or leave a comment!
