I just had to borrow this from - alyburns' (aka sideburns & alyjude) Hiding Place
If you spoke faster than David Hewlett you’d travel back in time: Michael Shanks
I just had to borrow this from
kitzen_kat because it's the most perfect example of what's going wrong with this country - hell, the world - as we dive into the internet and the danger of almost instant written communication with each other.

Kat pointed us to another journal because she was curious. Apparently someone got a hold of a $100 bill with some scribbling on it and wanted to know what the words were and Kat wanted to know too.
Now the original question about the bill  was innocent enough, however, things went crazy immediately following the very first comment, which was basically, "....I've never even held a $100 bill!"

Read what happened then, folks. Read the immediate reply to that simple statement and subsequent replies, jumped conclusions, apologies, and the folks who jumped in before reading everything and thus failing to notice the apologies, etc. and how the original question was lost entirely until the TWENTY-FOURTH comment out of 40!!

You know, I really think it's time humanity started censoring their own brains and head back to the good old days when, "Think before you speak" was the wise mantra of the time. Of course, we'll need to update the saying....

"Think before you text/tweet/comment"

but still....

And you know...with all that's going in the world and in this country...the Mayan prediction of the end of the world in 2012 seems very...viable now. So the question becomes: How much can I cram into my life in the next year and what, 8 months? :)

I'm going to stop bypassing those Hostess Cupcakes and start actually buying them.... Take that, 2012!

What's funny about that (as in ironic funny) - a co-worker handed me 20 $100 bills a couple of days ago.

It was interesting how people reacted to one part of the post without reading the rest of it .... liked the cash is crass comment too!!

I think I was 45 before I actually handled large bills. *g*

The whole thing is like the perfect example of the pitfalls we all fall prey to. :(

Re: LOL!

And how the world is changing ... in a way I'm not surprised that this perosn hadn't handled $100 bills before; with direct deposit options and debit cards.

My brain hurts just from trying to follow all the comments on the money post. 'Cash is crass'??? wow! you learn something every day....!! I guess I must be crass sometimes... *G*

As for 2012, well, the world can't end then,... Glasgow is hosting the 2014 commonwealth games in 2014..... *LOL!

I'm not sure if the Mayans are

open to bribery, but you could try *G*

Wow ... this is actually mild compared to some of the stuff I've seen. There are places I simply won't go online, and some places I still go, now and then, but I won't post. People aren't just rude, they're outright *nasty,* and the Social Justice Brute Squad (tm) is the worst of the bunch.

On a more fun note, my dad would occasionally write something on a bill when he spent it. One actually came back to him once (we were living in a very small town back then) and as a kid, I thought that was so cool!

I think it's kind of cool too

to write neat notes on bills just to wonder where they go and if they'll come back. Like the movie, Serendipity. :)

Unfortunately, we have to take the bad with the good in the world of instant *written* communication :(
