	(not that i write anymore) has this ever happened to you? you're reading your flist and someone asks, "help, i'm looking for a (fill in the fandom) fic where..." and they describe it and you go 'hmmmm, that sounds good, i hope someone finds it so i can read it" and then you go back to the post later in the day only to discover that the story was yours? yeah. weird. just happened. i read last week where someone wanted 2 sga stories, one was an atypical "trinity" fic and the other was a complete rewrite of the final season that included a mild xover with sg1 and since i wanted to read both, i checked that journal today - and yep, both stories were mine. surreal. i don't even remember writing them and, considering i only have a few sga stories - and the 2nd requested story was my only long sga story, i certainly should have, right? and no, i didn't head over to read them! :-) would that I would have that problem; I would probably fall off the chair in shock if a search was for one of my little fics. lol

Actually, I'm not surprised you didn't recognize the search Aly, you've been an incredibly prolific writer, the last few years notwithstanding, and I would be surprised if you did remember ever plot point you wrote. Sure there's not as much SGA fic, but, you've sort of had other stuff going on the last few years.

You may not have head over to read them, but I will b/c I don't remember reading the final season rewrite.

And you may not be actively writing now, but you never know when that'll change, regardless you will always be a damn fine writer.

and i asked for a story at one point and yep, it turned out to be yours - "Ordinary Life" - so there. :) (which is now bookmarked along with the rest of your sg1)

:-D you're very very welcome. I never get tired of re-reading your stories, they still make me "feel" -- I get teary-eyed for Daniel when he's stranded alone until he finds JJ in 'don't let the sun go down' (just read that the other week on a plane), and 'Polar Ice Caps' always makes me cry, as does 'homeward bound.'

And ... seriously?? You searched for a story and it was mine? You just made my month!! (thanks for the bookmark too). I'm so excited now, and yes I squealed like a 12 year old. THANK YOU! And I missed it, thats what i get for rarely looking at the lj search comms. It was The Hens you remembered wasn't it? lol I recently re-read it because I was putting that story on my IJ and remembered why i love it flaws and all.

hmmm, should I? Okay, if you bookmarked my sg1 on one of the archives, there's two very short j/d ficlets that are LJ only. Very short ... and yes I'm shameless at this point because you made me so happy

Absolutely no obligation to check them out--I mean it--as i know you are severely limited with your online time. Seriously, only if you're really bored and want a quickie. ...and my that sounds a bit wrong doesn't it? lol

i don't hang out on fic finding comms, so i haven't had that experience. i do remember chatting with some fellow fans once and we were talking about a story idea and i said that someone should write it. there was a long pause, then someone said "you already have" and i still couldn't remember which story it was...

i find that when i'm writing a story it will nag at me to get written - even stories that i abandoned years ago will come back to me on odd occasions, but once i've finished the story, i rarely think of it again.

LOL, I have some idea, though, about what you mean. I don't think I've forgotten plot points but I often forget which stories they're in and have to scan to find the one I'm looking for. I think it may be a sign of advancing age ....

seems normal - especially with someone like you, who gives us long stories, rich in detail, you know? the longer the story, the more likely we'll 'misplace' scenes in our memory! LOL!

I'm usually a few days late seeing fic searches, and at that point they've usually been found lol. But if it's one of mine I usually peg it, so your experience has not happened to me yet :-)

you're also WAY younger than me. :) your memory is still intact - although, i think i've always had a problem remembering my stuff - they were always written in like a fugue state, you know?

That's happened to me a couple of times - is it normal for our minds to go blank on our own stories considering the time, effort and love we put into them? And the worst part is our thinking, wow, that sounds like a great idea for a fic...

a whole of stories, so maybe it *is* natural? But what weirded me out was that it was an sga, which i *don't* have a lot of - so i should have remembered! LOL!

i'm guessing because many trinity stories have poor rodney going through hell, being shunned, etc. and i guess i took a slightly different route *shrugs*

Haven't had that experience with a finder comm, but I have found a fic in my WIP folder that I have no memory of writing. Absolutely no memory. It's kind of scary, actually. I know I had major forgetfulness after my son died, but to completely blank on a fic like that really threw me. I posted it as mine and nobody has contradicted me yet, lol, but I'm not really *sure* about it. Ironically, it was an SGA fic, too. Maybe it's just that fandom, lol lol.

I co-wrote a few Trek stories, and if we look at them now, neither my co-writer nor I can remember which of us wrote what bits.
