There will be no Sentinel Day this year either, but the decision has nothing to do with Garett. The zoo is still waiting for one set of documents to be signed off and then they can break ground and since they don't know when those pesky docs will be signed, they have no idea when the new building will begin, hence, the summer is up in the air.
But that doesn't mean they won't need our help. They still rely on the generosity of others to keep the animal park open because they are still an animal park and rescue center and not a full-fledged zoo as we know it. That won't happen until the move. So the question will be: What kind of auction to run this summer.
I'm fully aware that the economy is only marginally improved - and for many of us, there's either no difference or we may even be worse off (especially those on disability/SS/Medicare - there may have been a raise, but it won't even start to help stave off the rising cost of Medicare and Medicare Supplemental plans and Medicare Advantage Plans). And there are still many folks out of work. With that in mind, I'm going to run a poll next week (so I have lots of time to get the word out) to get your feedback on what type of auction (full auction, special auction or animal auction only) to run. I know many people want to save their money for A) The BIG auction I plan to run for the Grand Opening - one in which the hope is to present our largest amount yet and B) saving their money to actually attend the Grand Opening, so who better to help me decide which type to do?
Please spread the word about the poll - I'll be posting (along with the Moonies) to all our usual lists etc, but it would help if it spread by word of typing/texting/blogging/journaling *G* too. And please encourage folks who are interested to friend the gmfor_moonridge since all news about Moonridge and the auction will be posted there first. THANK YOU!
