Well, my hat is safe - alyburns' (aka sideburns & alyjude) Hiding Place
If you spoke faster than David Hewlett you’d travel back in time: Michael Shanks
Well, my hat is safe
"Your hat?" you may ask? Yep, my hat. While watching the Lawrence O'Donnell show last night, when the lawyer for Mr. Zimmerman left the studio before his interview with O'Donnell, I said to an old work friend on the phone that "I'll eat my hat if by tomorrow, a friend of Zimmerman's - a black friend - doesn't show up suddenly defending the man and telling us what a great guy Zimmerman is...."

Well, as I said, my hat is safe (which means my tummy is safe because I'm certain eating a straw "Moonridge" hat would have landed me back in a hospital) because today, sure enough, a friend came forward - the only person to come forward on Zimmerman's behalf so far - and sure enough, he was black.

*shakes head at the predictability of such things*

Yeah, that same friend was on Good Morning America yesterday too. With the lawyer who went on to not appear on the Lawrence O'Donnell show.

I was listening to the interview without having seen the screen, then later, when I looked up at it, I thought, yeah, a black friend. Sure.

Color me cynical, but I had the exact same thought, once the legal team got in on the action, et voila. I still want to know how you can be in fear for your life from someone running away from you. Oy.

Or how you can be in fear of your life from someone when the emergency dispatcher tells you to stay in your vehicle before you kill him. All he had to do was drive away, but instead he disobeyed the dispatcher, got out of the car and killed him.

I live in Kissimmee and our local news stations are constantly going live for the press conferences and all the rallys.

and why would a young black man

fear a guy coming toward him with a gun strapped to his waist in a holster? The kid is either going to run or 'stand his ground' and fight - and evidently in Florida, it's okay for everyone BUT a young black kid to 'stand their ground' when threatened. *snort*

Either way, that boy knew he was toast and that's what's heartbreaking. :(

And of course, we can't forget to blame the 'hoody' instead of the GUN. *rolls eyes*

I'm sure the NRA will have no problem with the government banning hooded sweat jackets but GOD FORBID their precious guns should be touched.

What really surprises me is that any state that allows people to walk around with guns, AND to stand for the law in the form of Neighborhood Watches, would be surprised when the idiot with the gun refuses to 'stay put' and NOT FOLLOW the so-called 'suspect'. After all, no matter what he does, this 'do-gooder' and "protector against all black men wearing hooded jackets" is covered by stupid laws.

But who's going to listen to us? We're just a bunch of bleeding heart liberals....
