FINALLY SEASON 2 of SHERLOCK!!! - alyburns' (aka sideburns & alyjude) Hiding Place
If you spoke faster than David Hewlett you’d travel back in time: Michael Shanks
Oh, God, you are wonderful!

First you gave me...

(Lord, one more MINUTE of her 'fake' crying, and I'd have paid someone to....)

...even though you didn't give me these two as the winners....

...our two good 'ol boys who managed to show just what kind of friendship two men could really have...on the Amazing Race. It made for a very nice Sunday.

But did you leave it at that? Oh, no, not you, God. You decided to put the cherry on my Sunday. You gave me....

AND LET US NOT FORGET SHERLOCK IN A SHEET (and dear Mycroft stepping on it as Sherlock attempted to leave....)

*happy sigh*
...dare i admit that i prefer the above two over rdjr and jl???
don't kill me, simply try to understand and offer your pity...or agreement *G*

oh, and now that season 2 has started, i also get the marvelous Alan Cumming doing the Masterpiece Mystery intros. I loved Diana Rigg, but Alan...

Aren't Sherlock and John lovely? I'm mad that PBS cut some of the wonderful relationship bits out, though: Sherlock steals an ashtray from Buckingham Palace for John, John and Mycroft plot to make sure Sherlock doesn't go back to using drugs after Irene's "death", and John's girlfriend dumps him after telling him that Sherlock's a lucky guy to have such a great boyfriend. :-)

Just you wait for #3: "The Reichenbach Fall". "Hound" is very nice, but "Reichenbach"...

I've just discovered about

the cuts by reading my flist, so I just finished sending off a very angry email to EVERYONE at PBS-SoCal regarding the 'editing'. I just hope they listen. :(

Now I'm going to have to find a way to get the first three, which I viewed on PBS - and they must surely have been equally cut, so God only knows what I've missed. :( Then find a way to get this new season. *sigh*

But I've heard they are going ahead with season 3. *G*

I'm so IN LOVE with them. Must do a new journal banner and add them, ASAP!

Re: I've just discovered about

I did the same to PBS during the first season and got a form letter back. Recently I heard that it's Hartswood Films that does the cutting (although it's clearly for PBS as they don't do it for the UK), but Moffat, Vertue, and Gatiss have all disavowed knowledge of it, so who knows.

They are going ahead with season three: filming in early 2013, showing before the year is out. That will ease your watching of episode three considerably. :-)

The DVDs/Blu-Rays sold in the US were not cut - I have them. The first three eps are also available on Netflix streaming. But if you have trouble finding uncut versions, drop me an email...

They will look lovely up there with all your other boys! ;-)

Re: I've just discovered about

Wait. 2013. TWENTY-THIRTEEN!?!?!?!

That can not be. The world is scheduled to end in December of this year and even if it doesn't, good GOD - 2013???? We won't see it in the US until...

I could be dead. This is not right. I shall have to talk with Mr. Moffat immediately, change his mind, you know? Yeah, that's what I'll do...and maybe offer him sex (no, not with me, silly *G*, with...with...Angelina Jolie) Yeah...Brad will understand.

Okay, I have a plan. Life will be good. We'll get season 3 and Sherlock's rise from the...won't continue that as it would involve spoilers for those who don't know what happens...is there anyone who doesn't know? *scratches head*

I think I've gone around the bend. I mean...

Re: I've just discovered about

Early 2013 for filming, but Rebecca Easton (PBS producer) promised that US audiences would see it before the end of 2013.

It's not just Moffat, though. Sure, he's running Doctor Who, but Benedict is hitting the big time and his career is going to go stratospheric once Star Trek comes out; not to mention what will happen to Martin once The Hobbit comes out in December. Coordinating all those schedules has to be a nightmare. Fortunately, they all seem to love working on it so they make time. But I think early 2013 was the best they could do.

As Mark Gatiss says: "Make 'em laugh, make 'em cry, make 'em wait..."

Wait. Have you already seen all of season 2????? Uncut??? Where do I go? *looks around desperately*

Re: Oh, yes it is...happy sigh

Yes! Thanks to Jane. I love Hounds of Baskerville. Wonderful twist to the story. And slash heaven for sure.

Tired but good. Terrie and I took mom for a checkup. She got a good report. Then I was supposed to run errands, but it was raining like crazy. So Terrie watched mom and I slept for a couple of hours. Heaven. ;-)

How are you?

Re: Oh, yes it is...happy sigh

so glad you got some much needed sleep. :) Don't ask about me - too long and just plain useless.

Should I give you a couple more days of hopefully getting some more rest before I send the photos? I'm thinking yes - maybe after this weekend? Actually, after today, you can take the info from the gmfor_moonridge site whenever you feel up to it. That takes the pressure off and lets you do it when you feel good and have the time and doing it in starts and stops! *G*

I know! How awesome is it to finally have series 2 ?? I can't believe I haven't watched the full ep yet. I admit I watched the reveal for how the cliffhanger ended. But I *finally* managed to get the series 1 dvds from my public library so I could re-watch from the very first moment & see every moment the PBS version does have some stuff clipped.

I love Alan Cumming's intros -- there's something about his voice. Yummy.

I still haven't seen the SH movie that came out last Dec, I truly enjoyed the first & especially RDj & JL but I found Irene to be too modern in many ways, and didn't particularly like the actress. So I didn't rush off to see it. I'll get it at the library this summer after some of the BBC Sherlock rush of *LOVE* goes away.

I gave up on this season's Amazing Race about 3 episodes in.

God, yes his voice!

That accent. *sighs dreamily* His wonderful gender preference. And his acting? I mean...ohmy. To watch him on The Good Wife and totally believe him as a straight man - a powerful, wonderfully manipulative powerful man, with a heart he likes to hide? *happy sigh* He's my favorite male character (although, when Alicia's brother shows up - oh, to fix him up with Eli...*slaps slash mind*).

I think Mark and Bopper are my favorite team ever. I was so bummed when they were eliminated. And Rachel! LOL! I'm so with you in that I was happy she didn't win. Which is kinda nasty because who really knows how they edit the show to bring out only the worst in someone?

And dang - I didn't know season 2 of Sherlock was on. Totally missed it. rats-a-reeno
alyburns From: alyburns Date: May 9th, 2012 11:43 pm (UTC) (Link)

No problem with missing the first episode

It's on again tonight (8pm my time - pst) and will rerun again on Sunday before episode 2 :)

And yes, Mark and Bopper were my fave ever as well. God, what they went through. You're right about the way they edit, but still, just knowing she's capable of that fake crying - for the CAMERA - was enough to dislike her intensely. Unfair, I know, but many of the contestants know about the editing, and some even remember as the game progresses and play to it. She's one of those. Grrrrrr. It amazes me what some of the couples on AR, not to mention contestants on say, Survivor, will do for the camera, will lower themselves to. But then...there are those who play the game for the sake of the game, and will risk losing (and being manipulated to lose by the producers) by NOT catering to the camera. And yes, I know darn well the producers manipulate. They don't out and out cheat or have the proverbial 'fix' in, but they CAN make changes to favor - or destroy - teams and players. *nods wisely*

Wow, that brought out the rant in me, eh, K?

PS: Did you try to call awhile ago? I have an answer machine that I always let play until the individual identifies themselves (so many telemarketers and robo-calls!).

Have to admit I prefer season 1 to season 2... though the season 2 stories are cleverly done.

And how they're going to explain away The Reichenbach Fall in season 3...

The same way Doyle did

when he was pressured to bring Sherlock back?
alicambs From: alicambs Date: May 8th, 2012 06:53 am (UTC) (Link)
Sherlock is wonderful! Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch are totally and utterly brilliant (and I have such a crush on Martin Freeman it's ridiculous). You have to watch the whole series unedited as it's the relationship bits and the little asides that are so much damn fun!
alyburns From: alyburns Date: May 9th, 2012 11:52 pm (UTC) (Link)

I love Martin too

and he gets the double vote because I love him AND his Watson, but oddly, with Benedict, I love his Sherlock more than him. Mmmm, wonder why? Weird.

I watch Martin as Watson and then marvel EVERY SINGLE TIME about the differences now and loving him in Love Actually. Someone mentioned that he'd been in the LotR trilogy, but I never caught him. I know he's in the new ones - the Hobbit - stars in both as Bilbo, but still have NO idea who he was in Fellowship, Two Towers or Return....

Re: I love Martin too

I with you on that, I'd watch MF in almost anything but although BC is an excellent actor and his Sherlock is superb I just don't have that same pull and affection as I do for MF.

Martin Freeman isn't in LofTR, I'm sure of that.

He's worth watching in Nativity, that is such a delightful feel good Xmas film, he's funny as hell in the short lived Bruiser series Touchy! as well as the IneptQ. :-)

I love, love the open slashiness of Sherlock, the way even in the first series they were talking about it, and how John keeps denying it and I can just imagine him one day going to deny it then saying "oh sod it, yes, all right, we are". I have a small wild hope that they might go down that path. I don't think in this day and age it would be a big problem, at least in the UK which is the primary market. I just have to cross my fingers and wish very hard :-)

As far as BC/MF vs RDJr/JL goes, I like them both in different ways. I can see them getting together in modern Sherlock, which I don't in the pseudo-Victorian yet modern world of the films, but I think overall Watson is better than John. In the first episode of the first series, John was excellent but after that they dumbed him down to an irritating degree. He's a little better in series 2 but I still think the film Watson deals with his Holmes better. Your thoughts?

alyburns From: alyburns Date: May 9th, 2012 11:56 pm (UTC) (Link)

I got the feeling in

the movies that Sherlock and Watson were so used to each other - had already been together so long, that yes, Watson knew his Sherlock in every way. With the series, we see them meet and know that Watson doesn't have the same length of time that the movie Watson does. Make any sense?

John, in the series, is still feeling his way around Sherlock, learning more about him. In the movie, we were plopped down right in the middle of their lives, so yep, it would only make sense that Movie-Watson would handle his Movie-Sherlock better.

My thoughts - for what they're worth. *G*
