The final Sherlock for 2012 has now been seen
and I must say - I preferred the two men....

...going over a set of falls rather than just Sherlock jumping. And of course, since we know Sherlock faked his death with 'morgue-lady's' (holly? molly?) help, we have to assume Moriarty did some pretty nifty faking of his own. The Baskerville episode was a truly clever 'update' of the original, but this finale wasn't as successful in the update department. The falls really would have been better. Oh, well.

From a slash viewpoint, I love John's half-hearted "Now everyone will be talking...." response to the two of them holding hands after their escape. *G* It was just like his 'I'm giving up" response in Baskerville when talking to the inn-keeper and his 'partner'. First they offer him and Sherlock the 'double bed' room and John starts to do his usual disclaimer but just gives up - and then there's the snoring remark and the chef saying, "What about yours?" and again, you can see John mentally throwing his arms up in the air in a sign of defeat. He knows he's doomed to be Sherlock's partner-in-life. *BG*

As for tonight's ending and John at Sherlock's gravesite, saying how he'll never believe Sherlock was fake? Stupid.

There was no need for that declaration because he knows the truth thanks to his meeting with Mycroft. But I did love the "do me one more miracle - don't be dead." If I hadn't known better - I'd have been balling my eyes out. It was also nice to let us see our lovely man one last time - the producers know it won't be until 2013 that we'll be given the 'truth', so that was damn kind of them for once last glance. *snort*

Oh, and the cheekbone remark of John's? PRICELESS. Just priceless.

I really hope the world doesn't come to an end in December of 2012 because then we'll all be cheated out of season 3. :(

Hmm, liked the movie version better. Did Moriarity threaten John in the original book? Seems to be the trend now.

Okay, so how did he do it? The lab person obviously helped, but how do you fake your own smashed skull on pavement? Replace the stone with foam rubber? Lovely that John still hopes that it's some kind of trick, not real ... have felt that way many times myself. Good of the show producers to show us he's still alive but really, faking the death in the falls would have been a good deal easier.

Summer seems to be here. We skipped over the sixties and seventies to go straight into the eighties.

I'm thinking it was done with mirrors/holograph

and then one of the bodies from the morgue made to look like Sherlock. As for his villain, not a real gun, a popper in the back of his head to spill out the blood and once Sherlock turned away - who knows. OTOH, I would sincerely hope M is dead dead dead dead. *G*

Our weather is in the 80's *G*

Re: I'm thinking it was done with mirrors/holograph

Yeah, I've had a good deal more than enough of Moriarty. This one isn't as compelling or interesting as the one in the movies, and he's a good deal more aggravating.

LOL, so we're having similar weather! Makes me feel closer, thanks!

I missed it last night. Totally forgot. But, the DVD's are coming in the mail and I look forward to watching the last episode.

I also can't wait for the next season...

What was it John said at the grave? "Just stop it!" lololol But poor guy, he doesn't know his friend is very much alive. Not only that, but standing over on the edge of the cemetery, watching.

I love how Sherlock is like Popeye, "I yam what I yam," and how he won't apologize for it, even when John calls him a machine and scolds him for not being able to stop being Sherlock. *g* The two of them are quite lovely together, aren't they. Their friendship is all about implicit trust but also off-the-chart frustration, at least on John's part.

Yeah, I just love them to bits

I really loved how, in Baskerville, Sherlock amended his statement about having no friends when John was walking away from him. "I have one friend"

Made my heart cry - and then go "pitty-pat"! LOL!
