OMG! - alyburns' (aka sideburns & alyjude) Hiding Place
If you spoke faster than David Hewlett you’d travel back in time: Michael Shanks
I can't believe this was created.
I'm a Christian and yet, to me, this was almost...sacreligious. The Statue of Liberty isn't about religion, our COUNTRY isn't about ONE religion; it's about ALL religions & ALL people, including those who have NO religion.
This country does NOT need to return to Christ - but maybe it does need to remember a tenent of almost all religions - and non-relgions - namely that we're all our brothers and sisters keepers.

America needs to return to its ROOTS....

I'm hoping it was created as a warning of what we might become if we don't figure things out better. I fear that I'm wrong about that.

and it burns even worse for those of us who are Christians. This land is for all. I can't even imagine how I'd feel if I saw that and I was of the Hebrew faith, a Buddhist, a Hindu, a Muslim, and so forth, let alone agnostics, atheists, and all other various forms and levels of non-religion or religion!!!

If more, this kind of thing is WHY so many in America now prefer NOT to affliate themselves with ANY religion! The Evangelicals are pushing so many away. :( Why does everyong have to think THEIR religion is the ONLY one? Why can't they leave at being personal?

Re: Exactly

Sorry, first post came in as "Anonymous"! Anyway, here it is again:

Many Christians accept other faiths, though - they're not so arrogant as to do something like this (even if inside, they accept it's the only true religion), you know? But you're right, there is most definitely that...what...core? group all over the America who DO believe it's their JOB to MAKE Christianity the only religion and to combine it with governing, both on a State-wide level and *sigh* the Federal level. No matter WHAT the Founding Fathers truly intended. *double sigh*

And apparently there's no way to 'show' them or change them. :(

As a Christian, this behavior shames me. I watched the Madwoman of Chaillot last night - God, so brilliant (even if the movie could have been done a bit better?). When she's talking to the 'Reverend' (one of John Gavin's only truly excellent performances), well, best dialogue ever regarding Christianity.

That is wrong on so many levels!! I totally agree with what you've written above and hopefully so will most people.

based on a couple of emails

not everyone agrees, but that's life. :) The majority do, however, so there's hope.
