I HAD A BALL TONIGHT - alyburns' (aka sideburns & alyjude) Hiding Place
If you spoke faster than David Hewlett you’d travel back in time: Michael Shanks
Thanks to Regina (aka Merlin and magician113)! She came down for a visit - in her jazzy new car, which I not only FIT in, but could get in and out of easily, and if that weren't enough (yes, I'm a car freak, why do you ask? *G*), she brought enough goodies from her garden and enough baked (home-baked!!!) goodies to last me until my next SSD check!! Okay, actually, the macaroons she made may not make until tomorrow - and she brought me an HUGE container of them, but guys, they are the BEST macaroons (and I'm a bit of an expert) that I've EVER tasted! Apparently almond flour is the key (and dipping JUST the bottoms in either milk chocolate or dark doesn't hurt either!). Anyway, I'm still up - and I'm still popping the little dreams into my gaping mouth. :) And of course, she brought me her home-baked croissants too, so yes, heaven is my apartment kitchen right now. And did I mention the pate, the tomatoes fresh off the vine, the oranges, the lemons...are you hungry yet?

But if that wasn't enough, she treated me to dinner at the Steakhouse, and let me break her ear off with my "I don't talk to anyone for weeks on end" chatter! :) The only bad part of the day (besides my incessant chatter) was Abby actually hissed at her - but they made up later on, thank goodness. Abby's actually been a bit weird of late...but that's another story.

Anyway, if it wasn't enough that Regina is the angel who always knows where to find stories on sentinelficfind, and of course, the angel taking over for 852 Prospect over at AO3, she's also one HELL of a baker and gardener (not to mention listener)!!!

She's offering up her Sentinel cookbook again this year at the Auction - in the Special Donations - and if you've forgotten, it has recipes based on each episode (like for 3PT Shot, you'll find "Full Court Press Nachos" and for The Reel Deal, you'll find a recipe for Original Pancakes, and so on). Totally awesome and cleverly thought up cookbook, guys!

Yep, a great day, but alas, I could give her nothing in exchange, other than, of course, scarfing down all the goodies she brought! :) I tell ya, we Sentinel fans MUST have a get-together here just so we can all have her food! Er...that might be undue pressure on the angel - so we'll have to agree to ALL contribute our fave dishes too. :)

Emphatically not true. Allowing yourself to be given to is a gift of grace to the person giving. Reverse places and tell me you don't know it's true. See?

Speaking of which, thanks again for helping me this morning. Having that peace of mind allowed me to actually fall asleep. You really saved me.

Love you. *smooch*

"I'll sway...." she says with macaroons in her mouth....

Oh, Lord, truly, the bounty that woman brings with her, it's like "Farmer's Market? Who needs one when you have Regina as a friend?"!!!

Oh, I'm so glad you guys had such a GREAT time! My mouth waters just thinking about those croissants and all the other goodies. Regina is such a great chef! I'm sorry I didn't call. Lost track of the day, to be honest. Forgot it was Monday. Got caught up with a call from Lisa (friend who's partner drowned last fall) who's having a tough time (we all know how loss can side swipe us even when we think it's getting better) and then headed over to Mom's. Gary came down with a bit of the flu but we'd worried yesterday that it might have been food poisoning from the shrimp I'd served with the steak dinner the night before when he and his kids visited. But he had a fever yesterday afternoon that broke near dawn, and he's feeling quite a bit better now. Anyway, by the time I got home again, I kinda just crashed.

Oh, and keep forgetting to ask, but I assume you're inviting her/including her in all the Thanksgiving and Christmas celebration plans.

Can't wait to see you guys!

Honey, I have almost no cope for writing lately but we are long overdue for a talk. Do I have your current phone number(s)? It's really the only way right now and even that can be dicey but I'd like to try. <3

I think I left the number when I called earlier this year but, just in case, in Canada it's 519 725 4303 and in California it's 760 761 4996.

I'm usually out M, W and F mornings when in Canada and have afternoon appointments T,W, Th this week, and M, T next week. Evenings are generally okay but will be taking my nephew to a movie on Thursday, maybe. LOL, I'm not usually this busy. Evenings are usually the best time to call.

Now I KNOW it was NOT the shrimp or anything

else you could have cooked, Marilyn, trust me!!! You're an excellent chef, yourself. And so sorry about your friend - but understand totally losing track of the time. Funny, though, the phone did ring at about 9, I think, and figured it was you, but checked the tv anyway, just in case? It was ANDE!! It was good to hear her voice - but missed yours, but Lisa needed it, and yours would be just the voice to hear.

R gave me some gorgeously delicious treats when I had the chance to see her when I was in LA in 2010. (Still sad that I couldn't catch up with you too, but another time maybe.)

Looking forward to catching up with all of you either at Thanksgiving or around Xmastime - especially busy year for me right now but I could use a group hug. Would be great to see all of you again!

I can't tell you how many ways I love this post! Being not so far away in Santa Barbara, I still hope to meet that woman one of these days. And I'm so happy that you're happy, Aly! Big hugs.
