Yeah, I know, but I did it anyway - alyburns' (aka sideburns & alyjude) Hiding Place
If you spoke faster than David Hewlett you’d travel back in time: Michael Shanks
Yeah, I know, but I did it anyway
I played, "Who's going to win Miss America?" - I used to play all the time with mom and sis, but since they moved it away from September, it lost something - but now it's back and back to NJ, so play I did. And all my top 10 ladies made it! And all of my top five - alas, there I fell apart.

I voted:

Miss Oklahoma - as Miss America with 40 pts
Miss Minnesota - 1st runner up with 39 pts
Miss California - 2nd runner up with 36.5 pts
Miss New York - 3rd runner up with 35 pts
Miss Florida - 4th runner up with 33 pts

THEY voted:

Miss New York (unprecedented, I think, two times in a row) - MISS AMERICA
Miss California - 1st runner up
Miss Oklahoma - 2nd runner up
Miss Florida - 3rd runner up
Miss Minnesota - 4th runner up

A few notes: Miss Georgia lost MAJOR points with her singing - okay, actually, I wrote: "Her arranger should be SHOT and then BEHEADED" and Miss Kansas, who won points for her, "I was going to do Archery, but the rules prohibit any talent with projectiles involved, so singing won by default" - she then launched into NOT just singing, but Opera - and not just Opera, but Nessun Dorma from Turandot (one of THE most difficult of Puccini's operas), so I was ready to zoom her to the top - until she really got into it. Can we steal one of Randy's favorite "American Idol" comments? "Pitchy"? Can we say, PITCHY AS HELL? Having heard this sung by Sarah Brightman (she of the original cast of Phantom of the Opera and once Andrew Lloyd Webber's wife), who is not, by any means, a favorite, and heck, even ARETHA FRANKLIN sang it, and yes, Deanna Durbin too, so sorry, dear Miss Kansas, but I just had to take points away - many many points. Miss Florida however, moved into my top 5 via her...okay, I'll just type it fast: herbatontwirlingactwithabadknee.

What can I say? The girl, even with a knee brace (which hampered her 'gown' competition in spite of the bling), really rocked both batons (yes, she picked up a second one about half way through) and, while she made one wee error at the end, well, ya gotta give the gal credit up the wahoo! GO FLORIDA! (and no, I'll NEVER say that again - EVER).

So another Miss America is history but at least it's back to being New Jersey History. YAY!!!

Did I say how I miss my favorite 'host', Gary Collins? Shocked it's not Bert Parks? Come ON!!! Gary all the way, plus his wife was an ex-Miss America, so he got double points! :)

I watched a lot of it but missed the end. I was really pleased to see it back in New Jersey and back to the proper time of year. Chris and Lara weren't that great as hosts. I thought Gary Collins was a good one.

I was also thinking of "Miss Congeniality" with Sandra Bullock. "It's a scholarship program!"

Oh GOD I LOVED Miss Congeniality! And yep, that last line of hers to Candace was hilarious!
