I think no matter our political affliation... - alyburns' (aka sideburns & alyjude) Hiding Place
If you spoke faster than David Hewlett you’d travel back in time: Michael Shanks
I think no matter our political affliation...
... and no matter what we think or believe about compromising; the debt ceiling; the budget - or even Obamacare -  there is ONE indisputable fact regarding the shutdown; a fact that proudly heard and seen (meaning they didn't try to hide their pride) by anyone and everyone in the Capitol yesterday and today; the fact that the 'few fringe Tea Party' Republicans everyone claims to be in actual control of the House, were PROUDLY laughing, high-fiving each other, and patting each other on the back while congratulating themselves for succeeding in "Shutting down the Government of the United States of America."

How can anyone take pride in such actions or justify it in any meaningful way? And how can we - how can anyone - feel anything BUT shame in men who fear losing their congressional seat more than they love this country or care about their constituents? How can we feel anything but shame and total lack of respect for those few representatives who, instead of putting the "Fear of God" into their fellow Republicans, have put the "Fear of Being Primaried" into them.

Is there a shed of light? Maybe. A few brave Republicans (whose districts are still considered 'purple') in the House ARE speaking out today. But will that be enough - even though these same Republicans are even admitting that the gerrymandering of 2010 is highly responsible for this mess?

Maybe. *fingers crossed*

They take pride in it because they're...

Assholes! Sorry, but that's the most fitting word I could use. :( They should all lose their jobs - they're not doing them, anyway. :( It's lucky for us that they're putting their country and their constituents ahead of everything the way they're supposed to, isn't it? :( Yes, I know...major sarcasm. I'm horrified, literally horrified by what is going on in our Congress - particularly the House of Representatives, of course. And, you know, that it doesn't just affect our country and citizens. World markets rise and fall based on our economic situation. Of course, if they don't care about our citizens, they certainly won't care at all for the rest of the world's.

I just don't see how we can go on like this. *headdesk*

They are so out of touch with the people. All they care about are what the people who give them money want. Nothing else.

Just remember this when November comes around...

I'm so disgusted with their behavior and it just keeps going and going and going...

We've elected a bunch of four year olds in all branches of government and from both parties. It's embarrassing. I know who I'd like to send on furlough....

Re: Tea Party maniacs

He is indeed. Makes terrorists look like bothersome gnats. :( Actually, his method of 'politics' IS terrorism.
